Scholarships 

Selwyn House School offers scholarship opportunities to both internal and external candidates who are New Zealand residents. Scholarships offered shall be awarded according to merit.

Applications for scholarships are now open for the 2025 school year. For more information regarding scholarships for the 2025 school year, please contact the Enrolments Coordinator at enrolments@selhouse.school.nz.

Middle Years Academic Scholarship (Year 5)

Girls starting in Year 5  during the 2025 school year are eligible to apply for the Middle Years Academic Scholarship. The scholarship is valid for consecutive years 5-8.

All applicants are required to sit the academic examination. External applicants must submit a completed application for enrolment.

Scholarships for Years 6 and 7

Girls starting in Year 6 or Year 7 during the 2025 school year are eligible to apply for the following scholarships:
All Rounder
Boarding
Music
Performing Arts
Sport

Scholarships are awarded for a maximum of three consecutive years.

All applicants for these scholarships are required to sit the academic examination.

In addition to the academic exam, applicants applying for the Sport, Music or Performing Arts scholarships may be asked to attend a separate audition or interview at the school. Sports scholarship applicants may submit a video with their application.

Individual results of all examinations and auditions will remain confidential to the school. Internal and external applicants are asked to complete the same scholarship application. External applicants must submit a completed application for enrolment.

 

 

 

Senior Years Academic Scholarship (Year 7)

Girls starting in Year 7 during the 2025 school year are eligible to apply for the Senior Years Academic Scholarship. The scholarship is valid for consecutive years 7 -8.

All applicants are required to sit the academic examination. External applicants must submit a completed application for enrolment.

Performing Arts, Music and Sport Scholarship Criteria

Sport Scholarship

  • High individual performances in at least 2 CPSSA or other regional and/or national sports events (Triathlon,  Duathlon, Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country);
  • High performance in at least one team sport;
  • Potential in other areas.

Music Scholarship

  • Applicants are expected to have achieved a minimum of Grade III of Royal Schools’ Music or equivalent
  • Potential in other areas.

Performing Arts (Theatre, Drama, Dance)

  • Applicants are expected to have achieved a minimum of three years of lessons in their preferred dance style or drama/theatre.
  • Potential in other areas.

Selwyn House School Alumni Rebate Application Deadline - Wednesday 8 May, 4PM
Academic Exam for all scholarship applicants (Years 5, 6 & 7) -Saturday, 18 May*
Music, Sport and Performing Arts Auditions - Saturday, 18 May*
Scholarship Interviews - Monday, 27 May*

Scholarships will begin to be offered on Wednesday, June 5. The scholarship offered will need to be accepted by Friday, June 7.

*Please note, dates may change. Applicants will be provided with confirmation of exam information and interview dates. The scholarship application deadline will not change. No late applications will be accepted.
