A Global Education

“Our education is world class”

At Selwyn House, we aspire to grow globally minded learners and leaders of the future.

We warmly welcome international students. We celebrate the rich diversity and global influences international students bring to our community.

Selwyn House School offers small class sizes and an International Baccalaureate curriculum aimed at developing the academic, social and emotional wellbeing of our girls. Our caring and dedicated teachers are committed to helping girls find personal and academic success. Selwyn House School prepares girls for further study within New Zealand or overseas.

We encourage all girls to become involved in the life of the school. Opportunities to develop interests are available in a range of sports, music, drama, dance and a large variety of clubs.

Our school is located in Merivale, in the heart of Christchurch.

Christchurch is New Zealand’s second largest International Education destination. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes and with friendly Kiwis at every turn, Christchurch is a safe and popular choice for students from around the world.

BOARDING

Cared for in our modern Boarding House, the girls learn how to live together in a community, developing self-confidence, independence, adaptability, and responsibility. Boarding provides rich opportunities to make friends, to speak English and to experience New Zealand’s great outdoors. Wireless Internet is available throughout the school making it easy to keep in touch with family and friends at home.

INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTS

AFTER ENROLMENT IS RECEIVED

Upon acceptance of the enrolment, an Offer of Place will be sent to you. Immigration New Zealand requires students to have an Offer of Place from a New Zealand education provider before a Student Visa will be issued.

All non-resident students whose parents live overseas are required to live in our Boarding House. An overseas student who boards at the school must have a guardian or relation living in the Canterbury region. This guardian or relation is expected to:
• take an active interest in the life of the student.
• make leave and accommodation arrangements for school holidays.
• be able to assist with any emergency arrangements.
• assist with transport to and from the airport when required.

Parents of overseas students are responsible for arranging guardians and keeping the school informed of all details. A reasonable standard of English is desirable for International Students to ensure they gain maximum benefit from their experience.
