Canterbury-Westland Science and Technology Fair

An impressive group of Year 7 Selwyn House students showed their science and technology skills at the 2022 NIWA Canterbury-Westland Schools’ Science and Technology Fair, which was held in September at the University of Canterbury.

All the students who attended presented fascinating projects and represented the school with aplomb. The following students won special prizes for the projects they presented:

Evie Casey – 1st Prize, Year 7 Technology; 2nd Prize, Best in Fair
Angela Yang – 2nd Prize, Year 7 Technology
Eloise Arthur – 3rd Prize, Year 7 Technology
Holly Fraser – Special Prizes from the NZ Institute of Agricultural & Horticultural Science, Callaghan Innovation, and Environment Canterbury, respectively
Georgia McMillan – A Special Prize from the Australian and NZ Committee for the Care of Animals in Research and Teaching

A special congratulations to Evie Casey for her success in the coveted ‘Best in Fair’ category, particularly given the calibre and age of who she was competing against.

The Primary Years Programme at Selwyn House encourages our students to be curious, to take constructive risks and to communicate well. These girls have shown they have no shortage of these skills.
