Well done to all 23 girls in 8 teams who competed at Robocup Canterbury Regionals on Saturday 24 August.
We had teams entered in both Rescue and Performance categories. The competition is open to all Christchurch schools and is judged in two parts; an interview and a performance or rescue rounds.
Rescue team robots compete by following a winding line on a series of tiles to a designated rescue area. On the way the robot could encounter obstacles, bridges and short cut opportunities that challenge our girls. While the clock is still ticking the robot must find “the victim” before pushing them out of the danger zone to safety.
For theatre groups they have an interview where the teams are asked about their process, problem-solving techniques and the story behind their performance. They then perform on stage with their robots for a two minute performance.
Congratulations to the following girls who placed at the regionals competition.
