Selwyn House School was thrilled to have 11 girls from Year 7 represent the School at the NIWA Canterbury-Westland Schools’ Science and Technology Fair. Three Selwyn House girls were also awarded for their particular projects.
Kate won 1st place in the Year 7 Technology category for her Robotic Cat Bowl entry. Lucy won 3rd place in Year 7 Technology category for her Smooth, Silk, Sensitive Skin project. Miya won a special award from the Canterbury Section of the New Zealand Agricultural and Horticultural Science category for her Flavoured Lettuce Mania submission. Her award recognises the exhibit that best displays an aspect of horticulture or agriculture.
The NIWA Canterbury-Westland Schools’ Science and Technology Fair has been held in Christchurch for over 30 years and throughout this time has grown considerably in size and reputation to become one of the premier Science and Technology events in New Zealand. This event regularly attracts up to 400 entries from intermediate schools, secondary schools and home schools throughout the Canterbury and Westland regions.
