Pre-School

Inspired by Reggio Emilia

We see each child as an individual and base our teaching on Reggio Emilia principles that include respect,  responsibility, and community through exploration and discovery in a supportive and enriching environment.

The Reggio Emilia approach to teaching young children puts the natural development of children as well as the relationships that they share with their environment at the centre of its philosophy.

After the end of the Second World War, the families of Reggio Emilia in Northern Italy wanted a new approach to teaching their children. Mothers in particular wanted a more enriching experience for their children. They felt that in the early years of development children form who they are as individuals, so this stage of development is as important as later years in education.

Parents are a vital component to the Reggio Emilia philosophy. Parents are welcomed as partners, collaborators and advocates for their children. Teachers respect parents as each child's first teacher and involve parents in the curriculum.
